Graseby Dynamics Ltd, part of Smiths Industries, specialises in the research and development and manufacturer of highly sophisticated analytical instrumentation. The company is recognised as a world leader in chemical and biological monitoring and detection equipment for military, civil defence and enviromental purposes. Graseby undertakes its own government research and development programmes. CAM™ CHEMICAL AGENT MONITOR In conjunction with CBD Porton Down Graseby designed, developed and manufactures the CAM monitor, which is a portable hand-held instrument used to warn of the presence of liquid CW agents on people, equipment, vehicles/aircraft, soil and agent vapour in the air. Over 57,000 units are now in service in over 29 countries worldwide. |

CAM
has been tested and used in extreme climates, such as jungles, deserts and
artic conditions. CAM has been used operationally during the conflict in
the Gult, UN operations, and in demilitarisation and counter terrorism roles. CAM has been in use since the mid-1980s and over time has been subjected to continuous improvment. In the early 1990s the Improved CAM (ICAM) or CAM2 was developed for the US Army. |
|||||||
In 1999 the Enhanced CAM (ECAM) was developed with additional features i.e.
simultaneous detection of nerve and blister agents; it is now entering service
with many countries. CAMplus software enables CAM to detect a wider range
of agents i.e blood and choking agents. To adress the need for local sentry alarm Graseby developed the FAM Field alarm Module. FAM offers a remote display/alarm feature and automatically switches CAM between the nerve and blister agents modes. GID-2A ™ FIXED CHEMICAL AGENT DETECTOR GID-2As provides continuous real time detection throughout a chemical attack giving identification and information on threat levels. The GID-2A is in service with the UK Royal Navy and several other Navies. The GID-2A can be configured and integrated across a range of deployment requirements to meet specific needs. These include monitoring in interior and exterior atmospheres and the integrity of filtration systems in: - Ships, aircrafts and vehicle NBC system - Military bases, headquarters and building protection systems - Airfield security systems |

GID-3™
CHEMICAL AGENT DETECTOR GID-3 is a stand alone CW detector designed to survive and operate in Armoured Fighting Vehicles, small ships and filtration systems, but light enough for dismounted troops to carry. GID-3 has been tested against and passed some of the most demanding specifications in the world. The GID-3 has been successfully intergrated with over 35 different vehicles such as the Fuchs (FOX), NCRS, Canadian LAV Reece programme, the MIA2 main battle tank, Desert Warrior AIFV. |

AS90 and the VBL wheeled vehicle. GID-3 was the winner of the US ACADA (M22)
contract to supply 12,000 GID-3 to the US DoD. |

BDS
BIOLOGICAL DETECTION SYSTEM BDS is a self contained, mobile unit for monitoring biological warfare agents. A series of complementary detectors will operate to rapidly detect and identify specific agents with confidence in near real-time. BDS is currently being developed for the UK MoD. |
|||||||
BDS main components are: - A detection suite - NBC filtration and enviromental control for worldwide use - Radio communications to disseminate alert messages. - Power supply The BDS is provided by a team comprising Graseby Dynamics, Hunting Engineering, EDS and DERA. |
