Normeca AS has sent medical equipment to Beslan, Russia

On the morning of Monday September 06th 2004 Normeca received from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs a request for the possible delivery of various medical equipment to Beslan. At 15:45 the same day we received a firm order from the Ministry for various single-use products as well as second-hand anaesthesia machines, ventilators and patient monitors.

At 20:45 the same evening close to 1,000 kgs of equipment was ready for delivery. All the equipment reached Beslan the following day and is currently being used in several of the local hospitals.

On Wednesday morning the same week the Ministry of Foreign Affairs forwarded to Normeca a list received from the Russian Embassy in Oslo requesting specialized equipment for anaesthesia, surgery and the treatment of burn victims. At 16:00 the same day Normeca made an offer for all of the equipment with prices, weights and transport volume. All the equipment could be in Oslo within 24 hours! The total value of the goods exceeded USD 3 million.

This request was unfortunately cancelled by the Russian authorities as they in the meantime had received large quantities of equipment from all over the world. Nevertheless, this shows that Normeca’s network works extremely well and fast in situations such as these.

In this connection we would like to extend our gratitude to the following suppliers that did an outstanding job so that Normeca could deliver an offer so quickly and, not least, so that the equipment could be in Oslo within 24 hours

Normeca has also received a letter from The Norwegian Directorate for Health and Social Affairs which is as much a show of gratitude towards our suppliers as well as to us in Normeca.
